Output Styles
Output Styles
Output Styles allow you to change the way Claude will output results. Changing the output styles will allow you to connect Claude Code to systems that rely on different kinds of output. When you change output styles your system prompt under the hood is being changed.
Claude Code has three built-in Output Styles (configured via /config → Preferred output style):
- Default — helps complete technical tasks.
- Explanatory — helps complete technical tasks while providing more explanation.
- Learning — helps complete technical tasks but stops and asks for your input, so you are part of the learning process.
