Compact and Clear

Longer conversations mean more token usage. While Claude Code will auto-compact, you can have more control over compacting or clearing.

/compact — create a summarized conversation to save tokens (e.g. "Compacted chat · manual · 59k tokens freed").
/clear — clear the current conversation. Clear will not clear out CLAUDE.md files or AutoMemory.

A long conversation can eventually halt your environment; if you are using WSL2 you may need to restart it if that happens.
